More than 100 families were displaced after heavy rains triggered flash floods and landslide in Sultan Kudarat.

Based on initial data from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Lebak town, around 109 families from seven barangays were affected by the flooding.

However, the families affected returned to their homes after floodwaters subsided.

No one was reported hurt during the flood.

A house in Barangay Purikay was submerged in floodwaters that reportedly came from the canal that overflowed.

In Barangay Nuling, the floodwaters reached knee-deep.

A two-month-old baby girl was placed in a plastic basin and rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard, along with her three sisters and their father, after their home was inundated by floodwaters in Barangay Barurao II.

In Kalamansig town, a landslide brought down soil and fallen trees, blocking the road and causing inconvenience to motorists and residents in Barangay Sabanal following continuous rains in the area.

“Halos buong daan di madaanan ng motor.  Daanan kasi nga estudyante papuntang school,” a resident, Joerem Olino, said.

Authorities already conducted clearing operations in the area.

Meanwhile, several motorists were stranded after floodwaters submerged parts of the road in Barangay Sinawal, General Santos City.

However, the water receded quickly after the rain stopped.

State weather bureau PAGASA said the rains experienced in Mindanao were due to the effects of the southwest monsoon or Habagat, intensified by Tropical Depression #CrisingPH.

“Although dili kaayo ta direktang maapektuhan…ang iyahang dagan ug ang iyang kakusog sa musunod nga mga adlaw is birahan man ning habagat nga pwedeng kaning habagat muabot na sa atua,” PAGASA GenSan Chief, Binrio Biñan, said.
