Stakeholders in Cagayan de Oro City have come together to address the issues surrounding the damage to a road in Barangay Canitoan where a reblocking project is underway.

In a report by GMA Regional TV One Mindanao, residents have raised concerns about the condition of the road, which has reportedly caused inconvenience and hazard to motorists and residents alike.

Residents said a portion of the road has become muddy and riddled with potholes.

The condition reportedly worsened with the frequent rainfall, which has caused water to pool in several sections of the road. Several motorcycle accidents have already been reported due to the unsafe road surface.

Residents expressed frustrations over the delay in the project’s completion.

Barangay officials, representatives of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) First District Engineering Office, City Engineering Office, contractors, and residents affected convened on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, to discuss the matter.

Mga motorista nga dili familiar sa area, bulasot gyud,” a resident, Eva Escribaño, said.

DPWH-10 said they are looking for alternative ways to solve and address the residents’ concerns.

The agency also clarified that the videos shown in the previous report were not from their project but rather from the local government.

DPWH-10 confirmed that it has two projects in the area that remain unfinished, which started in May and April 2025.

Pero dili ta mag-expect nga dako og accomplishment,” DPWH-10 Spokesperson, Novie Cabrido, said.

DPWH-10 assured that they will fill the area with gravel to make it passable for motorists.

Denrichmeyer Bactong, said.

Engineer Joel Momongan of the City Engineering Office also inspected the site on Thursday, July 17.
