Around 220 families in Zamboanga City have been displaced because of strong waves, flooding, and uprooted trees caused by heavy rains and strong winds.
According to the city government, at least 12 barangays were affected as of Thursday, July 17, 2025.
These barangays are Talon-Talon (17 families in Layag-Layag due to strong waves and 3 families in Navarro due to uprooted tree); Labuan (44 families due to strong waves); Patalon (5 families); Maasin (60 families due to strong waves); Recodo (16 families due to uprooted tree); Pangapuyan (26 families); Pasonanca (13 families); Capisan (4 families due to uprooted tree); Pamucutan (3 families due to uprooted tree); Ayala (4 families); Talisayan (4 families); and Tigtabon (21 families).
The local government has set up two evacuation centers at the Maasin covered court and Pasonanca barangay hall.
Relief and clearing operations have been conducted.
Classes in all levels in both public and private schools are also suspended on Friday, July 18.
The city government said the city will continue to experience unstable weather conditions due to the southwest monsoon (Habagat), according to state weather bureau PAGASA.
