Heavy rains triggered by the southwest monsoon and a recent storm flooded Dagupan City and five other towns in Pangasinan, forcing residents to evacuate and businesses to close temporarily.
Based on the report of the Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), flooding was reported in Dagupan City, Lingayen, Mangatarem, Calasiao, Sta. Barbara, and Urbiztondo.
“Magmula Thursday, tuloy-tuloy ang pag-ulan, kung minsan light to moderate at times heavy rain,” Avenix Arenas, Pangasinan Assistant DRRM Officer, said.
Several families took shelter at evacuation centers including the Malued Elementary School in Dagupan.
Lilibeth Nevado and her family were evacuated evening on Saturday, July 19, 2025, due to rising waters.
“Lumalalim na ang tubig kaya kinuha na kami,” Nevado said.
In Barangay Malued, barangay officials continued rescue operations using boats.
This morning, they brought a patient from Calle Dos to the hospital due to the deep flooding.
“Sobrang lalim. Hanggang dibdib yung baha sa kanila. Kaya hindi kayang ilabas ng pamilya niya,” Barangay Chairperson Filipina Delos Santos said.
The flood also submerged Burgos Street, making it difficult for motorists and residents to pass. Some tricycle drivers, like Leo Norzagaray, chose not to operate.
“Mga sasakyan, Sir, kawawa mga sasakyan,” he said.
AB Fernandez Avenue and the corner of Rizal and Rivera Streets were also affected. Even without rainfall by 9 a.m., flooding remained high.
Several businesses also closed due to the flood. Owners said they will wait for the waters to recede before reopening.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation.
