Classes have been suspended temporarily after a fire broke out at a school in Manticao, Misamis Oriental.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), six classrooms at Manticao Central School were affected.

“Ang isa gihimo na ug stock room, ang lima classroom. Ang totally damage upat ka room, ang partially damage duha lang ka room,” Manticao Municipal Fire Marshal, Fire Senior Inspector Edgar Lawan, said.

The fire allegedly started in the stockroom, where piles of paper were stored.

Fortunately, students in classrooms nearby were evacuated immediately.

No one was reported hurt.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.

The cost of damage was estimated at P2 million.

“Daghan ta anggulo karon nga tan-awon kay ang origin sa fire didto nagsugod sa stockroom, busa atong mga investigator naa pa didto nag-conduct ug investigation,” Lawan added.

Because of the incident, classes for students affected were suspended temporarily while school officials look for alternative classrooms.
