The newly installed acting director of the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) has vowed to curb criminality involving minors and students by working closely with schools in the city.

DCPO Acting City Director, Col. Mannan Muarip, said this after attending the flag raising rites at the Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School in Matina Crossing.

In previous months, the city has recorded incidents involving youth, including brawls and group violence. Addressing these concerns is among the top priorities of the new DCPO leadership.

“Alam mo naman sa kabtaan merong bullying na ganon, and primarily minsan nagiging biktima sila ng other crimes just like robbery theft so tuturuan natin sila i-aware natin at sila rin magiging aware sa paligid kailangang i-engage natin sila through the school authorities,” Muarip said.

Muarip said DCPO will strengthen its partnership with schools to protect students and steer them away from crime.

He also wanted to build a closer relationship with communities, especially students who aspire to join the police force in the future.

During the ceremony, Muarip also handed out commendations to personnel from the Talomo Police Station for their successful anti-illegal drug operation.

Muarip added that no major changes will be implemented under his leadership, but he assured that existing programs will be intensified.

“We will just enhance the programs for them ma-achieve natin ang more enhanced and more peaceful Davao City,” Muarip said.
