Authorities rescued a dog that got trapped in a soccer net for about 12 hours in Barangay Poblacion A, Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur.

Quoting the dog’s owner, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) said the dog was playing with another dog around 8 a.m. on Sunday, July 20, 2025, when it got stuck in the net.

They heard the dog whine later.

“Naggukod-gukod sa iyang kaubang iro, nadisgrasya padulong, nagapos hinuon siya og maayo,” MDRRMO Operation and Warning Chief, Diego Clavedo, said.

MDRRMO personnel responded to the area and freed the dog after around 12 hours.

The rescue was reportedly tricky because the dog reportedly became aggressive when rescuers touched the net.

Residents wanted to help but were hesitant to get near the dog for fear of being bitten.

The dog is back with its owner.

MDRRMO assured the public that its office is ready to respond not only to emergencies involving people but also those involving animals in need of rescue.
