As floods persist in Pangasinan, nearly 6,300 residents have been displaced across the province, with many now taking shelter in evacuation centers or with relatives, according to the Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).

As of morning on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, up to 787 families (2,463 people) are housed in evacuation centers.

Meanwhile, 931 families (3,836 people) sought refuge with relatives and friends.

“These are the ones who went to their relatives, friends, or acquaintances who could accommodate them,” Avenix Arenas, Assistant DRRM Officer of Pangasinan, said.

In Dagupan City, dozens of families from barangays affected by flood such as Lasip Grande and Pogo Chico were relocated to the People’s Astrodome and other evacuation centers. Each family was given a modular tent for privacy and shelter.

Barangay Malued also saw continued evacuations due to rising water levels, even without current rainfall. Floodwaters from nearby rivers have overflowed into low-lying communities, according to officials.

Among those rescued was 62-year-old Jesus Zabala, a person with disability (PWD) from Zone 7, who was moved to Malued Elementary School. The school is now serving as a temporary evacuation center.

“Yung higaan ko, malapit nang maabot ng baha,” Zabala said.

His evacuation was assisted by barangay officials and watchment.

“Ang nagbuhat, Sir, kasama ni Kap [ay 'yung] mga tanod,” Barangay Service Point Officer Sally Baniqued said.

However, challenges persist. Some schools used as shelters are now being threatened by flooding themselves.

The Dagupan City DRRMO said 330 families were in various evacuation centers as of 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2025. This doesn't include new arrivals from ongoing rescue efforts.

Local officials said they are monitoring the situation closely and working to address the needs of all evacuees.
