A 24-year-old man died after being electrocuted while wading through floodwaters in Barangay Capantawan, Legazpi City, Albay early morning on Thursday, July 24, 2025.
According to Police Executive Master Sergeant Carlos Paña, spokesperson for Legazpi City PNP, the victim was a store helper and a native of Rapu-Rapu, Albay. He was temporarily staying in Barangay 24-Rizal Street.
The incident happened at around 4:20 a.m. while the victim was walking through floodwaters about six inches deep.
He reportedly grabbed an electric post and was electrocuted. No one was able to help as the surrounding water was also electrified.
The Albay Electric Cooperative (ALECO) later cut off electricity in the area.
The victim was brought to the hospital but was dead on arrival.
The victim’s body was then brought to a private funeral home. Authorities are now coordinating with his family.
