A 28-year-old man was arrested in an entrapment operation for allegedly exploiting a girl online in Barangay Tambacan, Iligan City on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.

Personnel of the Iligan City Police Office Task Force OSAEC, together with other units and agencies concerned, launched the entrapment and rescue operation and implemented the warrant to search, seize, and examine computer data as part its commitment to protect children from threats of online sexual abuse and exploitation.

Authorities said the minor victim was being offered online for exploitation.

The girl rescued was turned over to the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) shelter for proper care and intervention.

Seized during the operation were three cellphones, flash drive, among others.

The suspect is now detained and will face charges for alleged violation of the Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (OSAEC-CSAEM) and Anti-Trafficking in Persons.

“This operation demonstrates our unwavering commitment to protect our children from all forms of online sexual exploitation, trafficking, and abuse. We call upon the community to remain vigilant and to continue supporting the police in safeguarding the welfare of every child,” the Task Force OSAEC Iligan City said.
