Floodwaters have swamped 30 villages in Mangaldan, Pangasinan, forcing residents to live in wet environments for days as creeks overflowed due to nonstop rain.

Among the hardest hit is Barangay Anolid, where over 1,700 homes have been submerged. The municipal government has declared a state of calamity to help speed up response and release of resources.

Assistant DRRM Officer Ernie Cuison confirmed the worst-affected areas.

“’Yung mga barangay na lubog ay ang Anolid, Bari, Maasin at Banaoa,” he said.

In Barangay Anolid, residents like Mary Rose Niverba are doing everything to protect their families. Her two children have been staying on top of a wooden platform inside their flooded house since Monday, July 21, 2025.

She refuses to let them step into the dirty water, worried that the wounds in their feet would worsen.

“Hindi ko sila pinapababa, hindi ko sila pinapalabas. Mahirap na, baka magkasakit pa sila,” Niverba said.

The situation has become more difficult each day. Floodwater inside homes has turned dark, foul-smelling, and infested with mosquitoes and even dead rats.

Marissa Honsayco, the barangay chairman, said local officials are doing regular rounds and have distributed food packs to families affected. She assured residents that help is within reach.

“May mga gamot sa barangay, andoon po kami 24/7, kaya kung may kailangan sila andito lang kami,” said Honsayco.

Authorities remain on high alert as heavy rains and a Typhoon #EmongPH continue to threaten the area.
