Several landslides hit parts of Baguio City over the past days due to continuous rains.

One of the landslides occurred at a private construction site in Barangay Loakan Proper, where soil collapsed and damaged two employee quarters.

In Barangay Loakan Apugan, part of a slope protection project under construction by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) also gave way due to soil erosion.

Six families living near a home affected by subsiding ground were evacuated.

Some are now staying at a local evacuation center while others have returned to their provinces to stay with relatives.

Another slope collapse was reported at Liteng Elementary School, while a roadside bamboo and soil erosion disrupted traffic flow in Camp 7.

The city also faced fallen pine trees in Purok 24, San Carlos, and Purok 6, Irisan, including incidents where trees toppled onto power lines.

To reduce the risk of flooding, the Baguio City LGU has intensified garbage collection, especially in barangays and the public market, to prevent trash from clogging waterways.

Residents near the collapsed construction site in Loakan Apugan said the area had been under backhoe activity for months until work suddenly stopped for unclear reasons. With the recent heavy rains, the soil softened and gave way.

The city has recorded at least 15 evacuated families, or over 30 individuals. Some public parks have also been closed temporarily due to the bad weather.
