Siblings were found dead in their residence in Batuan town, Province of Bohol.

The bodies of two sisters, who are retired teachers, were found in an advanced stage of decomposition in their house in Barangay Cabacnitan on July 22, 2025.

The sisters, reported to be spinsters, are ages 78-years old and 84 years old.

According to the Batuan Police Station, they received a report from barangay officials on concerns raised by relatives of the two senior citizens.

The relatives said they have not seen the sisters come out of the house, and that stench emanated from where the two lived.

In an investigation, Batuan Police confirmed that the bodies were in an advanced stage of decomposition.

The sisters were last seen alive on July 14, 2025, participating in an activity at the barangay chapel.

Upon investigation, no forcible entry was observed in the house.

Cash worth P53,000 was found intact, and the sisters' belongings were untouched.

Based on the said observation, the motive on possible theft was ruled out.

Based on the condition of the remains, police estimated that the sisters are dead for about four to five days already.

"We are waiting sa feedback sa Regional Forensic Office kabahin sa atoang request kabahin sa pag- autopsy. We are closely coordinating with the immediate relatives and rest assured to the public that your Batuan PNP are looking at all angles para ma-determine unsa gyud  rason sa ilang kamatayon. Buhaton nato tanan tingali naay nag-among-among nila maka-deliver justice ngadto sa mga namatay,” Police Capt. Victor Tagsa Jr., chief of Batuan Police Station, said.

The sisters were buried in a Catholic cemetery in Batuan at about 7 p.m. on July 23, 2025.
