Several barangay captains in Pagalungan, Maguindanao del Sur turned over loose firearms to the police.
They are captains of Barangays Kudal, Kilangan, Kalbugan, Bagoenged, Inug, and Buliok.
Among the guns surrendered included homemade shotguns, revolvers, pistols, rifles, and grenade launchers.
The firearms surrendered are now in the custody of Pagalungan Municipal Police Station and will be turned over to the Maguindanao del Sur Police Provincial Office.
According to the Police Regional Office-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO-BAR), the surrender was a result of the ongoing efforts to support the police’s campaign against the proliferation of unlicensed firearms and explosives.
“This voluntary surrender of loose firearms speaks volumes of the growing trust and partnership between the police and our local stakeholders in ensuring peace and security in the region,” PRO-BAR Director, Brigadier General Jaysen De Guzman, said.
