Strong winds and heavy rains from Tropical Cyclone #EmongPH battered parts of Pangasinan, damaging homes, bringing down trees, cutting power lines, and disrupting communication in at least 26 towns and cities.

Typhoon Emong made its first landfall in Agno, Pangasinan evening on July 25, 2025, bringing with it powerful winds that tore off rooftops, knocked down power lines, and flooded several barangays.

The next morning, residents woke up to scenes of destruction.

In Agno, a church’s roof had collapsed, houses and businesses were damaged, and large parts of the town lost power and phone signal.

“Pahirapan kami sa pakikipag-coordinate doon [sa Agno]. Actually, ‘yung report nila, ‘yung situational report nila ay hindi pa kami nakaka-receive dahil walang communication at may power outage,” Avenix Arenas, Assistant PDRRM Officer of Pangasinan, said.

In Dagupan City, people experienced heavy winds and strong rains throughout the night. In Alaminos City, the strong winds uprooted trees and downed electric poles, causing power interruptions.

According to the Pangasinan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), power outages were recorded in 26 towns and cities across the province.

In Calasiao, residents were hit with both flooded streets and no electricity.

“Mahirap talaga. Mainit sa loob tapos walang kuryente. Ang hirap-hirap,” Liezel Calagin, a resident, said.

“Hindi ako nakakatulog kasi may anak ako. Kailangan paypayan ko ang anak ko para makatulog siya,” Dina Morales, another resident, added.

The provincial government has coordinated with telecommunication companies to speed up the restoration of communication services across affected areas.
