Heavy overnight rains triggered more landslides, flooding, and fallen trees across Baguio City and nearby areas in Benguet on Friday, July 25, 2025.
In Tuba, Benguet, a landslide struck Kennon Road in Camp 6 around 8 a.m., sending large rocks crashing down onto the road. Police closed off the highway due to the volume of debris and the ongoing danger.
In Baguio City, floodwaters inundated houses in Purok 2, Outlook Drive at around 6 a.m., affecting at least four houses. One of the homes was buried completely in a landslide.
Two women were rescued after being trapped inside, while the rest of the affected residents were evacuated to a nearby center.
“Nagising ako, akala ko lang po may gumiba na bahay. ‘Yun po pala lahat, ‘yung buong bamboo po pumunta na sa bahay namin. Tapos ‘yung bahay po na nagiba d’yan, dumiretso na din po sa tapat namin,” Beah Arciaga, owner of one of the affected houses, said.
The rains also caused a large tree to fall in the same barangay, blocking the road and damaging power lines. A parked van was also hit, smashing its windshield.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong immediately convened a meeting with city officials and response teams. The city government recorded 30 fallen trees, 34 landslides, erosion, and rockfall incidents as of morning on Friday, July 25.
