Instead of letting rains ruin crops, the Tuguegarao City’s Agriculture Office made the call to harvest tons of eggplants and chilies early, and give them away for free to families affected by recent storms.

“Mas mainam na umanong maani at maipamigay agad nang libre ang mga ito para mapakinabangan pa ng mga nasalanta ng bagyo lalo na sa bahagi ng Riverside at iba pang bahaing lugar,” the Agriculture Office said.

The distribution focused on flood-hit areas in Tuguegarao, especially in riverside communities that bore the brunt of the severe weather.

Meanwhile, in Pangasinan, a group of fire volunteers extended their own relief efforts by distributing food packs and water to flood-stricken residents in Dagupan City and Calasiao. Their operation reached 1,400 individuals.

The fire volunteers prioritized low-lying areas still dealing with the aftermath of heavy flooding and displacement.
