The tsunami advisory issued earlier for several eastern Philippine provinces has been lifted, following a magnitude 8.7 earthquake near Kamchatka, Russia morning on Tuesday, July 30, 2025.

The earthquake struck at 7:25 a.m. Philippine time, with its epicenter off the east coast of Kamchatka and a depth of 74 kilometers. 

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) initially issued a tsunami advisory for minor sea level disturbances.

The advisory covered the coastal areas of:

  • Batanes
  • Cagayan
  • Isabela
  • Aurora
  • Quezon
  • Camarines Norte
  • Camarines Sur
  • Albay
  • Sorsogon
  • Catanduanes
  • Northern Samar
  • Eastern Samar
  • Leyte
  • Southern Leyte
  • Dinagat Islands
  • Surigao del Norte
  • Surigao del Sur
  • Davao Oriental
  • Davao Occidental
  • Davao del Sur
  • Davao del Norte
  • Davao de Oro.

However, PHIVOLCS said sea level monitoring stations in areas facing the Philippine Sea did not record any unusual sea level changes or destructive tsunami waves.

With no significant impact observed, PHIVOLCS officially canceled the tsunami advisory as of 4:40 p.m.
