A sudden tornado damaged houses and downed power lines in Barangay Caoacan, Laoag City morning on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, as rains and strong winds battered parts of Ilocos Norte.
At least 11 houses were damaged in the area, with several roofs blown off and doors destroyed. Some trees were also uprooted and fell on power lines nearby.
Witnesses said the tornado first passed near a school before hitting several homes.
The local government began clearing operations immediately. Officials are still assessing the full extent of the damage.
Meanwhile, another tornado hit Barangay Estancia in Pasuquin town at around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.
Residents said the strong winds came from the sea and slammed into several rental huts along the shore, destroying three of them.
Some individuals were trapped under the collapsed huts, but no injuries were reported.
In Burgos town, heavy rains and strong winds were reported Thursday, July 31, 2025, reducing road visibility and making it difficult for motorists to drive.
Authorities continue to remind the public to stay alert and monitor weather updates, especially during the wet season.
