Authorities have conducted a city-wide inspection of inns, lodging houses, hotels, massage spas, bars, and nightclubs in Cagayan de Oro City on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, to ensure that minors are not able to enter or access these establishments.

The inspection, led by the City Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking, Child Pornography and Violence against Women and Children (CIACAT-VAWC) and the Regulatory Compliance Board (RCB), was launched in observance of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.

At least seven establishments were inspected to ensure that minors are not being allowed entry, especially into drinking establishments.

"Dili man ta anti-business lagi, pro-regulation man ato ani sundon lang nila ang mga regulation sa atong ordinansa arun ato silang i-promote ug hopefully mas modako pa ilang negosyo,” RCB Vice Chairman, Antonio Resma, said.

RCB and the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) are also monitoring closely all inns and lodging houses following multiple reports of sexual abuses.

Based on a city ordinance, minors are not allowed to enter inns or lodging houses unless accompanied by a parent or family member.

:Mangayo gyud og ID, mangutana gyud og ayo kay simbako ug naa’y cases of rape or trafficking mahitabo sa ilang establishment, sila ra gihapon maigo sa atong balaod,” CSWD Special Programs Unit Head, Atty. Venamay Celeste, said.

RCB reported that no violations were found during the inspections.
