An alleged leader of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) was shot dead in Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.
Police said the victim was heading to Zamboanga City when he was shot dead by motorcycle-riding gunmen upon reaching Barangay Cuisipan.
The suspect fled after the incident.
The victim sustained a gunshot wound in the head.
Authorities are still investigating the incident to identify the perpetrators and determine the motive.
“Immediately, upon receipt of the report, nag-conduct ng dragnet operation yung ating mga elements ng Zamboanga del Norte Police Station. So far, under investigation pa,” Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula (PRO-9) Spokesperson, Major Shellamie Chang, said.
GMA Regional TV One Mindanao is reaching out to the victim’s family and the MNLF for a statement, as of this writing.
