An Ilonggo becomes the 67th Commanding General of the Philippine Army.

Lieutenant General Antonio Nafarrete from the Municipality of Calinog, Province of Iloilo replaced Lt. Gen. Roy Galido who retired from the service.

President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. led the Change of Command ceremony in Taguig City morning on Thursday, July 31, 2025.

Nafarrete graduated from Calinog Elementary School, and completed his secondary education at the West Visayas State University Integrated Laboratory School.

He graduated from the Philippine Military Academy in 1990, and served as the chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) – Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom) in November 2024.

Nafarrete became commander of the 1st Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Zampelan of Wesmincom.
