The Ombudsman found an official of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) 7, arrested by operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) 7 in an entrapment operation in 2024, culpable for criminal and administrative charges.
The Ombudsman found Roy Sangueza Mat Castro guilty for grave misconduct and is set to be dismissed from the service.
As of this writing, GMA Super Radyo Cebu is trying to reach out to Castro for his statement.
Aside from dismissal from the service, Castro faces perpetual disqualification from any employment in government offices. He is also denied of his retirement benefits, and will face cancellation of his Civil Service Eligibility and perpetual disqualification from any civil service examination.
The suspect is set to be charged in court for two criminal cases for alleged indirect bribery under Article 211 of the Revised Penal Code, and violation to Section 7(d) of Republic Act 6713 or Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.
To recall, NBI 7 Director, Atty. Renan Oliva, arrested Castro based on a complaint filed by a female applicant for the position of Safety Fire Officer 1 who accused the suspect of asking P400,000 from her.
