A fire broke out at what is referred to as a portable gas station in Barangay Dulag, Lingayen, Pangasinan around 9 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025, damaging a convenience store nearby and several vehicles.

According to Enrique John Tantay, an employee at the station, the fire broke out while fresh fuel was being loaded.

“Naglalagay po sila ng bagong stock diyan po sa gasolinahan tapos 'yun nga po, may tumagas na gasolina. Habang tumatagas 'yung gasolina, sinabi ko naman po na may tumatagas tapos sabi ni boss ko, yung naglalagay po, ‘Hayaan mo lang,’” Tantay said.

Out of fear, he stepped out of the station and just as he did so, the fire broke out.

“Pinapaandar niya 'yung battery para mag-pump 'yung ano tapos doon na po nagsimula 'yung sunog; nag-spark po kasi,” he said.

The leaked fuel reached a convenience store across the street, destroying nearly all of its merchandise, including hundreds of sacks of rice. An elf truck and a motorcycle parked nearby were also damaged.

Firefighters placed the fire under control after 15 minutes. The Bureau of Fire Protection is still investigating the cause.

The owner of the gas station sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital.

“May naitala kaming isang injured, ‘yung may-ari po kasi siya po ‘yung driver that time. And then, isinugod siya sa pinakamalapit na ospital, sa Nazarene. After ng first aid ay dinala po sa Villaflor Dagupan,” SFO1 Jackielyn Manuel of the Lingayen Fire Station said.

The gas station and convenience store owners have not released official statements. Authorities are still assessing the total amount of damage, as of this writing.
