Hundreds of students lined up morning on Monday, August 4, 2025, at Mangaldan National High School as the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) opened its satellite voter registration, with turnout already exceeding expectations.

The line started forming as early as 8 a.m. for the first day of the registration drive.

COMELEC officials said they were surprised by the surge of students, despite having already recorded a large number of registrants in the first three days of the ongoing registration period.

“Dalawa naman ang encoder natin. Basta’t hindi papalya ang mga gamit natin, kayang-kaya natin i-cater kahit more than 300,” Gloria Cadiente, Election Officer of COMELEC-Mangaldan, said.

Jerome Valdez, an 18-year-old first-time voter, said he was glad the registration was held right in their school.

“Maraming tao pero okey naman, mabilis din,” he said.

Another student, Moises Angelo, also took advantage of the opportunity to register early ahead of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections in December 2025.

“Convenient po itong place at saka isa pa, madali lang din hanapin,” he said.

COMELEC-Mangaldan has a target of registering over 2,000 voters during the satellite registration.

However, officials expect that number to rise as more people show up before the August 10, 2025 deadline.
