A rider was killed while several others were injured, including rescuers, in road accidents in Kidapawan City.

Personnel of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) responded to a report that two people figured in an accident after the motorcycle they were riding hit a stray dog in Barangay Sudapin.

While rescuers were attending to the victims, another rider, believed to be drunk, rammed into them.

Two CDRRMO personnel sustained injuries and were brought to the hospital for treatment.

The alleged drunk rider was taken into police custody.

“Nalaman ng investigator mismo na lasing itong driver, itong nakabangga sa mga rescuer kasi amoy na amoy nila yung alak sa bunganga ng nakabangga,” Kidapawan City Police Station OIC Chief, Lt. Col. Dominador Palgan Jr., said.

Police added that the 22-year-old rider who hit the stray dog died and his female companion was injured.

Authorities reminded the public about the importance of responsible pet ownership.

“Itali or ikulong nila para di pagala-gala sa daan, maka-cause ng aksidente, and then ang mga motorista na umuuwi ng lasing, umuuwi ng nakainon, as much as possible iwasan nilang uminom while  nagmamaneho,” Palgan added.
