An alleged drunk police officer in Iloilo City is in hot water for alarm and scandal.

A closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage captured three men having a drinking spree outside of a store in Barangay Rizal Lapuz Sur, Iloilo City past 11 p.m. on August 2, 2025.

Later, a man in blue t-shirt hurled a bottle on the road. A man in white t-shirt followed suit. The third man, in red shirt, stood up and hurled a bottle at the CCTV camera.

After a few minutes, the man in white went berserk at the gym of Barangay Punong, Lapuz.

“Tinawag ko ang aking sweeper dahil may nagreklamong mga residente na naglalabas-masok, nagrereklamo na natatakot umapak dahil maraming bote. Ipinalinis ko,” according to Barangay Punong Chairman Arnel Asturias.

Based on investigation, the man in blue was identified as Lt. Ed Allen Rodrigo. As of this writing, he is assigned at the Regional Logistics and Research Development Division of the Police Regional Office Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR).

Rodrigo was at home in Barangay Punong on August 2, 2025 and had a drink with friends. The other persons in the video he shared a drink with were identified as alias “Pakloy,” 45 years old, and alias “Pa-ok,” 47 years old, barangay residents, and are siblings.

“Hindi ako makapaniwala sa aktwasyon ng isang PNP (personnel) na supposed to be ay sila ang magmentina ng katahimikan. Instead, na siya ang pumigil sa mga pasaway, siya pa na member ng PNP, siya pa ang nagpasimuno,” Asturias added.

PRO-NIR awaits the filing of a formal complaint against the police officer. As soon as the report is available, Rodrigo will be placed under investigation.

“Just in case na makatanggap tayo ng report tungkol dyan, we would be acting accordingly based rin sa ating PNP administrative disciplinary machinery. Sumusunod yan sa investigation against sa ating personnel and eventual filing kung may makita tayong probable cause,” Lt. Col. Joem Malong, spokesperson of PRO-NIR, said.

Iloilo City Police Station 8 went to process a blotter report on the incident. Aside from administrative cases, a criminal complaint will also be filed against the police officer and his two companions.

Rodrigo was assigned formerly at the Traffic Enforcement Unit of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO). He has reportedly no derogatory record.

“Titingnan natin kung mag-warrant ang mga ginawa nila at karagdagang ebidensya. Malaki ang posibilidad na masamphanan ang mga ito ng kasong alarm and scandal,” said Shella Mae Sangrines, spokesperson of ICPO.

GMA Regional TV One Western Visayas tried to reach out to the police officer for a statement, but he has not answered any of the news team’s calls.

The news team tried to look for the other two persons involved in the incident, but they were not at home.
