An elderly woman died and her husband was injured after a motorcycle crashed into the tricycle they were riding on the national highway in Barangay Bonuan Binloc, Dagupan City, around 11 a.m. on Monday, August 4, 2025.
Felipe Erfe, 58, was still emotional as he recalled the crash that took the life of his live-in partner, Luz Duvar, 69.
They were on their way home from the market in San Fabian when the accident happened. Due to the strong impact, the tricycle’s sidecar detached from the main body.
“Sinalpok kami bigla. In-overtake-an niya yung convoy ng dump truck eh. Akala niya siguro kaya niya,” Erfe said.
Duvar suffered a serious head injury and broken bones in her leg. She was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Police identified the motorcycle rider as a 31-year-old man from Pozorrubio, Pangasinan. He was also injured and taken to the hospital. Authorities have yet to release his statement.
“Nag-encroach siya sa linya ng naka-tricycle. Nagkabanggaan, napunta sila sa gilid,” PLTCOL. Lawrence Keith Calub, officer-in-charge of Dagupan City Police Station, said.
The rider will face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and physical injuries, according to police.
“On-going yung filing namin sa city prosecutor. Hinihintay ko lang yung paglabas ng medico legal at death certificate,” Brayle Vico Erfe, a relative of the victim, said.
Police reminded motorists to always be cautious on the road.
“Magdahan-dahan po tayo,” Calub said.
“Ingat po. Lagi po natin iisipin mga pamilya natin na uuwian natin,” he added.
