“Gitan-aw nako diri, dako na kaayo og siga diri. Tapos pagbuto atong gasul, nisabog na siya, dako, nisamot na, nauna diri ang balay,” a resident affected, Roel Lega, said.
“Tan-aw mi diri kay makita man kay naa man mi sa taas, aso man. Naa pud nag-text sa amoa nga amoa daw nasunog, mao to nag-adto mi diri, pag-adto namo ugdaw na,” another resident, Christopher Crispo, added.
Authorities said the fire may have started from a dirty kitchen.
“Sumala sa imbestigador sa Bureau of Fire, ang hinungdan sa sunog katong napasagdahan nga abuhan. Naay naka-rescue namo na Purok leader nga gitirahan og fire extinguisher, dili nagyud niya makaya kay light material man gud ang nga gamit sa balay,” Barangay Chairman James Abadilla said.
The families affected are staying temporarily at the the Davao City National High School Annex gymnasium.
“Makahatag og katong mga ginamit na namo nga clothes o mga gamit sa panimalay bisan kabo, palanggano ba diha, or kung makadonate mo og nga lansang ba o bisag cocolumber lang,” Abadilla said.
