A body of a woman was found floating in the waters of Tacloban City.
The woman was earlier reported kidnapped in Ormoc City, Province of Leyte.
The body was found morning on August 4, 2025 by a fisherman who reported immediately to the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Tacloban and the Fishery Law Enforcement Team.
Her face was covered in plastic and her hands were tied.
The body is already in an advanced state of decomposition, according to the authorities.
In a press statement, Police Regional Office (PRO) 8 confirmed that the victim is the woman reported kidnapped in Ormoc City on July 31, 2025.
In an initial investigation, police said that the victim was kidnapped by three armed perpetrators.
The 35-year-old victim was identified positively by members of her family through her tattoos.
Police investigation is ongoing to determine the motive of the crime.
"As of this time dili pa ta maka-pinpoint, maka-conclude sa possible motive ana nga incident. We are doing our very best nga makit-an namo ang mga responsible,” Police Captain Flora Mae Molina said.
