A tricycle driver and a policeman were injured after they were shot by a German national in General Santos City.
The suspect also sustained injuries and was arrested.
Authorities said the foreigner sought assistance from the policeman in getting to the airport as he was reportedly catching a flight.
The policeman agreed to help and transported the foreigner to the nearby taxi terminal. When they arrived at the terminal, the foreigner told the policeman that he had an enemy in the area - the tricycle driver.
The foreigner then allegedly grabbed the firearm of the police officer and shot the tricycle driver. The tricycle driver was hit in the shoulder.
The police officer attempted to subdue the foreigner, but he was shot in the right side of his body during the scuffle.
The police officer eventually recovered the gun and hit the foreigner in the shoulder.
“Murag wala sila magkasinabtanay or unsay ilang pagbangi nikalit og ilog sa pusil napusilan siya pero siyempre at first basta ing ana nga grappling, nagtensyon namu dili naman na ma-feel nya. So, nakarecover pa siya bali pud sa pusil napusilan pud ang abaga niya mao tung nagkadugo pud,” General Santos City Police Office Director, Col. Nicomedes Olaivar Jr., said.
The foreigner was arrested and did not respond when asked for comment.
“Mura kunug tulala, murag dili responsive. Atung pang sutuan. Atu pang palawman,” Olaivar added.
The tricycle driver is now safe. He and the police officer have yet to issue a statement, as of this writing.
The foreigner may face frustrated homicide and frustrated murder charges.
Coordination is ongoing to identify the foreigner’s family or relatives.
