Two ambulatory care facilities dubbed Sugbo Bagong Urgent Care and Ambulatory Services (SugBUCAS) have opened during the 456th Founding Anniversary of Cebu Province, and as part of the observance of National Hospital Week 2025.

According to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC), the two ambulatory care centers are located in Cebu City, particularly on Clavano Street in Barangay Capitol Site and in Sudlon, Barangay Lahug.

SugBUCAS is a program of the Department of Health (DOH) implemented by VSMMC in collaboration with the Cebu Provincial Government that owns the land where the facilities are located. The centers seek to “bring quality outpatient, surgical, and urgent care services closer to the community.”

Cebu residents, both in the province and in Cebu City, are provided with expanded health services through the said centers.

The centers are extensions of VSMMC that can perform Caesarian Section (CS) operation, among other health services.

DOH Assistant Secretary Atty. Christian Saquilabon, Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro, Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival, and Dr. Gerardo Aquino, chief of hospital of VSMMC led the opening ceremony on August 6, 2025.

Further, VSMMC pointed out that they have implemented thoroughly the zero-balance billing, a program of the national government that President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. emphasized in his 4th State of the Nation Address (SONA) last July 28, 2025.
