Several people were injured after a dump truck carrying sand plowed through three vehicles, including a jeepney, in Opol, Misamis Oriental.
Based on investigation, the truck came from an uphill area when its brakes allegedly malfunctioned.
The truck then crashed into a jeepney, which was heading toward the western part of the province.
Several jeepney passengers sustained injuries but are safe, including the driver.
The truck also crashed into a multi-purpose vehicle and a sports utility vehicle (SUV) parked by the road.
Because of the impact, the cashier area of a restaurant was also damaged. However, no staff member was hurt.
The company that owns the truck and other parties involved have reportedly reached an initial agreement.
The truck driver was taken into police custody after the incident.
