The Army’s 101st Infantry Brigade (101IB) has condemned the attack on the headquarters of the 18th Infantry Battalion in Lamitan City, Basilan that left three personnel injured on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

In a statement, the military described the attack perpetrated by unidentified armed men as a “cowardly, deliberate act of aggression.”

“This cowardly, deliberate act of aggression against our troops is a clear affront to the stability and peace we have collectively worked hard to achieve in Basilan,” the 101IB said.

“Such violence threatens the hard-won peace and progress we have made, and the perpetrators of this attack will be relentlessly pursued and held accountable,” it added.

101IB assured the public that security measures are being tightened while those responsible are being tracked down, as of this writing.

Intelligence operations are also underway while troops have been placed on full alert.

“This attack, though alarming, only strengthens our resolve and determination to protect the gains of peace andn development in Basilan. Together, with our partners in law enforcement, local government, and the community, the 101st Infantry Brigade remains committed to upholding peace and progress its people rightfully deserve and ensuring the safety of every Basileños,” the military said.
