The vice mayor of Ibajay town, Province of Aklan was shot dead by a councilor past 9 a.m. on Friday, August 8, 2025.

Vice Mayor Julio Estolloso was shot dead by Sangguniang Bayan (SB) Member Mihrel Senatin.

According to Major Rajiv Salbino, chief of Ibajay Municipal Police Station, the shooting took place inside the SB Session Hall.

In an initial investigation, police said that Senatin went inside the SB Office and asked from a staff member copies of the ordinances he passed during his term.

Senatin proceeded to ask Estolloso of "any problem" that the vice mayor has with him, and then shot the victim.

Six shots were heard, according to the investigation.

Estolloso reportedly sustained wounds on the left side of the chest.

Senatin is already in police custody, as of this writing.

A Gloc 17 (9mm) pistol was recovered.

An autopsy of the body of the victim is set, police added.

Investigation is going on, as of posting time, to further establish the motive of the crime.
