Police arrested a 16-year-old boy during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Mayombo, Dagupan City, at around 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

Authorities had been monitoring the minor before the operation took place.

“Talagang involved po siya. Minanmanan po talaga ng kapulisan… Kahapon po, nagkaroon po ng pagkakataon maka-transact 'yung asset natin, so 'yun po, nahuli natin siya,” PLTCOL Lawrence Calub, Officer-in-Charge of Dagupan City Police Station, said.

Police recovered three sachets of suspected shabu worth over P700,000 from the teen, along with drug paraphernalia.

The suspect is currently under the custody of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD), and has not released any statement.

“From there po, gagawan po siya ng case study para ma-determine kung meron po siyang discernment or 'yung paggawa ng krimen na ginusto niya. Pag napatunayan na may discernment po siya, pag nag-edad na po siya ng 18 years old, makukulong po siya doon sa kaso,” Calub said.

In a separate operation just hours later, authorities arrested a live-in couple in Barangay San Julian West, Agoo, La Union at around 5:49 a.m. on the same day.

The two hugged each other as they were caught with 18 sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 34 grams, as well as drug paraphernalia.

Authorities also classified the couple as high-value targets.

They have been charged formally and have not given any statements.
