The Dagupan City Anti-Littering Task Force confiscated more than 500 defective weighing scales from vendors at the Magsaysay Fish Market.

During inspections morning on Friday, August 8, 2025, the team caught several vendors using tampered or broken scales and seized them on the spot. Authorities said they confiscate more than 20 faulty scales each day.

Shoppers and vendors alike agreed on this move.

The task force noted that some sellers take advantage of rising fish prices, up by P20 to P80 per kilo, to cheat buyers.

Araw-araw mag-iinspect kami,” Carlos Galves, officer of the Anti-Littering Task Force, said.

The weighing scales confiscated were taken to the city’s motorpool in Bonuan Binloc, where they now pile up by the hundreds.

The task force estimates over 500 units have been stored there and plans to dispose of them in the coming months.
