A voter registrant lost consciousness while waiting for her turn in Bacolod City morning on Saturday, August 9, 2025.
The girl collapsed and was assisted by personnel of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office to an ambulance.
Police confirmed that the girl is among individuals who queued up for the voter registration. She lost consciousness reportedly because of the long wait she had to endure while in queue. It was further learned that she had not eaten her meals, or snacks.
As of this writing, the girl is already in stable condition after taking a rest.
The incident happened in the ongoing voter registration for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) 2025.
According to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Bacolod, several young registrants raced to queue up after waiting outside of a mall, one of registration venues in the city.
Further, it was learned that the young individuals spent the night waiting outside of the mall.
The security group of the mall was not able to control reportedly the crowd who rushed to get first to the queue. To put order back in place, COMELEC Bacolod requested police assistance.
COMELEC Bacolod advised other individuals seeking registration, but who can no longer be accommodated, to go home.
COMELEC Bacolod vowed to improve its system in order to avoid a similar incident.
Police personnel will also be augmented to ensure order especially on the last two days of the voter registration wherein an influx of registrants is likely.
