Over 130,000 new voters are registered in Western Visayas, according to the Commission on Elections 6.
The total number of new voter registrants from August 1, 2025 to August 10, 2025 reached 137,467
According to Atty. Denis Ausan, COMELEC 6 regional director, the number was achieved because of the active participation of the youth, posting a huge turnout of young registrants.
One of the apparent challenges during the voter registration in preparation for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) was that registrants swarmed the COMELEC office in the last two days of the registration, resulting in congestion and exhaustion of a few individuals who spent long hours in queue.
Ausan said that COMELEC has facilitated the voter registration for the supposed BSKE on December 1, 2025, despite an impending postponement to November 2, 2026.
“Gahanda lang gid ang COMELEC 6 para indi ma-caught off guard, rason nga nagapadayon ang aton preparasyon,” Ausan pointed out.
