A portion of the Hall of Justice building in Zamboanga City was razed by fire.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) the fire broke out past 3 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025.

The fire reportedly started on the third floor of the building, particularly at the Office of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities at Room 314.

Based on initial investigation, some papers inside the room may have been the source of the fire.

The fire reportedly spread quickly to lower floors, destroying other office items, including old cabinets, chairs, and an air-conditioning unit.

The fire was put out after nearly an hour.

No one was hurt in the incident but damage was estimated at P800,000.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and determining the documents burned, as of this writing.

“Nag-coordinate pa kami sa MTCC (Municipal Trial Court in Cities) kung ano talaga yung content na yun para ma-verify lang talaga namin,” BFP Zamboanga City Fire Investigator, FO1 Jimfirst Natividad, said.
