The new vice mayor of Ibajay town in the Province of Aklan took his oath of office.

The position was vacated after the shooting to death of Vice Mayor Julio Estolloso on August 8, 2025. 

Sangguniang Bayan (SB) Member Nestor Francisco Inocencio was sworn into office on August 11, 2025. Mayor Jose Miguel Miraflores led the oathtaking ceremony held at the SB Session Hall and office of the late Estolloso.  

In his message, Inocencio recollected fond memories with the vice mayor as a friend, colleague, and public servant. 

The flag was raised to half-mast, while employees wore black armbands to express their grief over the death of the vice mayor. Estolloso's interment is set on August 25, 2025. 

Police personnel are visible in front of the town hall, implementing a “one entry, one exit” policy of the town hall to ensure security and safety of officials and employees. 

On the other hand, no final decision was reached on who will replace the position vacated by Inocencio in the Municipal Council.

To recall, Estolloso was shot dead by his own political ally, Councilor Mihrel Senatin.

Senatin went inside his office and shot him several times.
