Up to 24 alleged members of the New People’s Army (NPA) have surrendered in Davao del Norte.
According to the 1001st Infantry Brigade, the 24 individuals were composed of seven regular NPA members and 17 Milisyang Bayan of the Dismantled Sub-Regional Committee (DSRC) 4, Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC), including remnants of Dismantled Guerilla Fronts 33 and 34.
They also turned over 21 assorted firearms, including rifles, pistols, homemade shotguns, and homemade revolvers.
The military said the surrender was a result of intensified intelligence operations.
“This breakthrough was the result of intensified intelligence operations by 60IB, Kalinaw SEMR, Military Intelligence Group (MIG) 11, ISAFP, and the exploitation of documents from a June 19, 2025 encounter in Barangay Sayon, Sta. Josefa, Agusan del Sur. The strategic deployment of a Forward Observer Detachment (FOD) in La Paz, ADS, further pressured the DSRC4 remnants to surface and surrender to the authorities,” 1001IB said.
The former communist guerillas underwent custodial debriefings and medical checkups to assess their health while their assistance through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) is being processed.
“As we work to preserve our hard-earned peace, I call on every soldier to give their best in achieving our ardent desire for lasting peace,” 1001IB Commander, Brigadier General Felix Ronnie Babac, said.
“To those who have yet to return, lay down your arms and reunite with your families. Beyond the conflict lies a better life of hope, peace, and opportunity. We stand ready to welcome you back,” he added.
