A school principal was injured after she was shot in Midsayap, North Cotabato morning on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.

Authorities identified the victim as Arlyn Alcebar, 54, principal of Agriculture Central Elementary School.

According to the Police Regional Office-SOCCSKSARGEN (PRO-12), the victim was about to enter the school on board her car when two suspects riding a motorcycle overtook her vehicle and fired shots at her.

The victim sustained three gunshot wounds in her left arm and back.

“May dalawang unidentified na suspect na riding a motorcycle na overtook sa kanyang vehicle and without provocation, yun nga nagbaril gamit ang caliber .45 pistol,” PRO-12 Spokesperson, Major Rissa Hernaez, said.

Authorities are investigating the incident to identify the perpetrators and determine the motive.

“So far, patuloy pa ang investigation at pina-follow up din natin ang lahat ng operation at intelligence natin para ma-intensify at ma-identify natin at, siyempre, ang pag-arrest sa perpetrators,” Hernaez added.

Meanwhile, the Schools Division of Cotabato condemned the incident and deployed personnel immediately to coordinate with school officials, local authorities, and law enforcement agencies.

“This brazen attack is a criminal offense and a flagrant assault on the sanctity of schools, which are recognized by law as zones of peace and learning,” the Schools Division of Cotabato said.

The Division Office also called on the police, military, and all agencies concerned to conduct a thorough investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.

“The Schools Division of Cotabato stands in full solidarity with the victim, her family, and the school community, and will extend full cooperation to law enforcement in the pursuit of justice, for impunity has no place in a civilized society,” the Schools Division of Cotabato added.
