The Land Transportation Office (LTO) 6 has issued a show cause order against the owner of a traditional public utility jeepney (PUJ) caught on video belching thick, black smoke while plying its route in Iloilo City.
LTO 6 ordered alias "Ronie," the owner, to submit his explanation within five days from receipt of the show cause order.
The owner is given the chance to answer as to why he should not be held liable to face administrative and legal actions.
Should the traditional PUJ owner fail to comply with the order, the LTO will proceed to resolve the case based on available pieces of evidence.
According to the LTO, smoke belching is a violation of Republic Act No. 8749 or the Philippine Clean Air Act of 1999.
