Police seized P2.8 million worth of alleged smuggled cigarettes and arrested five people in a maritime operation off Brooke’s Point, Palawan.
The 2nd Special Operations Unit of the PNP Maritime Group led the operation with support from the Headquarters Intelligence and the Philippine Ports Authority–Terminal Management Office.
At around 3 a.m. on Monday, August 11, 2025, authorities intercepted a motorized boat in the waters of Barangay Maasin.
The vessel carried about 80 master cases of cigarettes worth P2,520,000 and 10 master cases of cigarettes worth ₱315,000, for a total value of P2,835,000.
The suspects and the seized items were brought to the Rio Tuba MLET, Balabac SBC, Brooke’s Point Annex, 2nd SOU-MG for documentation and proper disposition.
