A bomb threat posted on social media targeting a university in Dagupan City sparked police inspection evening on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, but authorities later confirmed it was a false alarm.
The Philippine National Police (PNP), along with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), inspected the school premises immediately and found no signs of explosives.
In a statement, the university assured the public that it will strengthen its security measures. Classes will continue as scheduled.
Authorities condemned the posting of the bomb threat online, warning that it violates Presidential Decree No. 1727 or the Anti-Bomb Joke Law.
Police are now investigating the identity of the person behind the post.
PLtCol. Lawrence Calub, officer-in-charge of Dagupan City Police Station, reminded the public of the seriousness of such acts.
“Meron po yung mas pinaigting na batas natin, yung Human Security Act, na sinasabing kahit anong activity na nagca-cause ng fear and panic to the general populace ay paparusahan ng up to 20 years,” he said.
“Baka pinaglalaruan po yung batas natin dahil hindi naka-review, huwag po nating gagawin ito,” he added.
