Two died while two were injured after a traditional public utility jeepney (PUJ) figured in a road mishap in San Joaquin town, Province of Iloilo.

The incident happened in Sitio Catigpan, Barangay Lawigan at 11:50 a.m. on Friday, August 15, 2025.

Alias “Ann,” a passenger, of legal age, and resident of Barangay Igcores was declared dead on arrival at the hospital for a fatal injury on the head. Minutes after, alias “Lloyd,” the jeepney driver, 32 anyos years old, married, and a resident of Barangay Cata-an was pronounced dead.

As of posting time, police investigation is ongoing. 

In GMA Super Radyo Iloilo's interview with Police Captain Chrysler John Ledesma, officer in charge of the San Joaquin Municipal Police Station, the PUJ driver lost control of the vehicle due to slippery road because of inclement weather, and crashed into a tree. 

The other passengers were identified only as alias "Thea," 30 years old, and alias "Ken," 23 years old. Both are said to be residents of Barangay Lawigan. 

The four were rushed to the San Joaquin Mother and Child Hospital by personnel of the San Joaquin Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
