Police intercepted a closed van carrying P3.2 million worth of cigarettes at a checkpoint in Barangay Nagsabaran, Diadi, Nueva Vizcaya.
Authorities said the truck came from Binondo, Manila, and was headed to Santiago City, Isabela, evening on Tuesday, August 12, 2025.
Based on police investigation, the driver and helper presented documents stating the cargo contained only 10 pieces of neutral auto parts.
Mervin Beadoy, platoon leader of the 1st Nueva Vizcaya Provincial Mobile Force Company, said.
However, when officers opened the vehicle, they found 245 boxes of cigarettes inside, each containing 50 rims per box.
The driver and helper are in police custody and may face multiple charges. The PNP is investigating the source of the cigarettes.
