A house in Barangay San Geronimo, Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya was destroyed in a fire, leaving eight pet dogs dead.

Investigators said the blaze started from an electric fan left running and directed at a Shih Tzu and its seven puppies. According to SFO2 Helen Grace Buen, team leader of the Bagabag Fire Station, the fan may have overheated and ignited the wooden wall nearby.

The fire spread quickly, and although a tenant tried to put it out, the flames grew too strong. The dogs trapped inside could not be saved.

Authorities reminded the public not to use electric fans for long periods, as they can overheat.

They also urged residents to act immediately to help control fires, noting that many bystanders were recording videos instead of helping despite a stream near the area that could have been used to fight the flames.

Officials are still assessing the damage caused by the incident.
