Three brothers on their way to the hospital died in a vehicular accident in Barangay Rumbang, Pototan town, Province of Iloilo.

Prior to the incident, the brothers were headed for the hospital to rush their 32-year-old sibling, alias “Reymark,” who was hacked by their brother in law.

Reymark sustained wounds on the leg and on the back of the head.

The suspect was identified as Mike Servidad, 24 years old.  

The three brothers took a tricycle. The driver alias “Riyen,” along with alias “Raymond” and Reymark are all residents of Barangay Abangay in Pototan.

In Riyen's haste to get to the hospital on August 15, 2025, he overtook reportedly another vehicle, but crashed into a pickup plying from the opposite direction.

“Head on collision. Sa impact na ito, ang driver doon, lumipad. Tapos ang isa, napunta sa sasakyan na nakasunod sa kanila. Unfortunately, two of the victims were pronounced dead on arrival,” Major Bryan Alamo, chief of Pototan Municipal Police Station, said.

Reymark and Raymond were pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. Meanwhile, Riyen was taken to a hospital in Iloilo City but expired there.

On the other hand, Servidad claimed the incident earlier was done in self defense.

“May pag-aaway gamit ang itak. Due to self defense, kay based sa information, nauna ang victim natin na hinabol ang kanyang kapatid na babae. So nakita ng asawa (ng babae), he intervened at inagaw niya ang itak,” Alamo added.

The suspect was arrested immediately.

According to Mike, an alleged drunk Reymark went to his house and started removing electric power lines.

When his wife scolded Reymark, the victim took allegedly a machete and chased the woman.

“Hinabol niya kasi ang asawa ko at tinangkang tagain kaya umawat ako,” Mike said.

Mike said he grappled for the machete and hacked his brother in law.

The family of the victim did not grant GMA Regional TV One Western Visayas an on-camera interview but said they are not keen on pursuing charges against the suspect.
